MAG boxes work differently from everything else. There is no app to install — the box is registered by its MAC address and the portal is entered in the settings.
What you need
- A MAG box (250, 254, 322, 420 or similar)
- Your portal URL from your provider
- The box connected to the internet
Step 1: Find the MAC address
It is printed on a sticker underneath the box, and also shown in Settings › System Settings › About. It looks like 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX.
Step 2: Send it to your provider
Your provider registers that MAC on their portal. Nothing will work until they confirm it is done, so wait for that message before going further.
Step 3: Enter the portal URL
- Go to Settings › System Settings › Servers › Portals.
- Give Portal 1 Name anything you like.
- Put the portal URL your provider gave you in Portal 1 URL.
- Save, then choose Restart Portal.
Step 4: Restart and watch
The box reboots into the portal and the channel list loads. If it shows a blank screen, the MAC has usually not been activated yet.
If something goes wrong
"Portal not found"
A typo in the URL, or the MAC is not activated yet. Check both before anything else.
Stuck on the loading screen
Restart the portal from the settings menu. If that fails, power the box off at the wall for thirty seconds.
Worked before, stopped now
MAG boxes are tied to the MAC. If the subscription lapsed the portal stops responding until it is renewed.
Questions
Can I move my subscription to another MAG box?
Yes, but the new MAC has to be registered. Ask your provider — it is not something you can do yourself.
Which MAG models still work?
Most from the 250 onwards. Very old models can struggle with modern streams, especially in HD.
Reseller tip: send this guide with the login, not after the customer asks. Most people who never got it working say nothing at all — they simply do not renew.
