The Firestick is the device most IPTV customers own, and the one that generates the most setup questions. Work through this in order and the whole thing takes about ten minutes.
What you need
- A Firestick, Fire TV Stick 4K, 4K Max or Fire TV Cube
- Your username and password
- About ten minutes
Step 1: Turn on Developer Options
Amazon hides this menu on newer devices until you unlock it. Seven clicks does it.
- From the home screen open Settings (the gear icon).
- Choose My Fire TV.
- If you cannot see Developer Options, open About instead.
- Highlight your device name and press the select button seven times. A message confirms you are now a developer.
- Press back once. Developer Options is now there.
Step 2: Allow Downloader to install apps
This permission goes to Downloader, not to the IPTV app. Nearly everyone who gets stuck gets stuck here.
- Open Developer Options.
- Choose Install unknown apps.
- Find Downloader in the list and switch it ON.
Step 3: Install Downloader
Downloader is free and comes from Amazon's own store, so there is nothing risky about it.
- Go back to the home screen and open Find › Search.
- Type Downloader and pick it from the results.
- Select the orange icon and choose Download.
Step 4: Download the app
Open Downloader and allow the storage permission it asks for. Then enter the address your provider gave you in the URL box and press Go.
Keep the address short. Customers type it with a remote, one character at a time. Every extra character loses a few of them before they finish.
Step 5: Install it
- When the download finishes the installer opens by itself. Choose Install.
- When it finishes choose Done, not Open.
- Downloader offers to delete the installer file. Say yes, twice. It frees space and you do not need it again.
Step 6: Sign in
Open the app from Your Apps & Channels. Enter the username and password exactly as supplied — they are case sensitive.
With a white-label app there is no server address to type, which removes the most common mistake of all.
If something goes wrong
"App not installed"
Usually not enough free space, or an older copy still installed. Delete a couple of unused apps and uninstall the old version first.
Developer Options missing
Settings › My Fire TV › About, then click the device name seven times.
Buffering after setup
Wi-Fi is the usual cause on a Firestick. An Ethernet adapter costs about $15 and fixes more buffering than anything else.
Picture is stretched
That is the channel's shape, not a fault. Most players have a Fit / Fill / Zoom control.
Questions
Does this void my warranty?
No. Developer Options is a standard setting Amazon ships on every Firestick.
Is Downloader safe?
Yes. It is in Amazon's own app store with millions of installs. It only fetches the address you type.
Do I have to repeat this after an update?
No. Once installed and signed in, it stays that way.
Reseller tip: send this guide with the login, not after the customer asks. Most people who never got it working say nothing at all — they simply do not renew.
