Phones are the quickest setup of all, and useful for proving to a customer that their line works before they touch the TV.
What you need
- Android 5.0 or newer
- Your username and password
- Two minutes
Step 1: Install the app
Either install from the Play Store if your provider's app is listed, or open the download address they gave you in Chrome and tap the file when it finishes.
Step 2: Allow the install
Android asks once whether Chrome may install apps. Tap Settings on that prompt, switch Allow from this source on, then go back and tap Install.
Step 3: Sign in
Open the app and enter your username and password. Tap the eye icon to check the password before submitting — mistyping it is the most common cause of a failed login.
Step 4: Save your mobile data
In settings, limit streaming quality on mobile data. An hour of HD is roughly 1.5 GB, and customers who blow through an allowance blame the service rather than the setting.
If something goes wrong
"App not installed"
Not enough storage, or a half-downloaded file. Clear some space and download again.
Works on Wi-Fi but not mobile data
Some mobile networks block streaming ports. A VPN usually resolves it.
Video but no sound
Check the phone is not on silent, and that no Bluetooth speaker is still connected.
Questions
Can I cast to my TV?
Yes, with Chromecast or AirPlay, though installing directly on the TV device gives a better picture.
Does it work on a tablet?
Yes, identically. Tablets are a good middle ground for customers without a smart TV.
Reseller tip: send this guide with the login, not after the customer asks. Most people who never got it working say nothing at all — they simply do not renew.
